Asian Pacific Tales
Performed by East West Players.
Dramatized folk tales blending Eastern and Western
theatrical techniques are interspersed with song, dance, rhythm, and
percussion from every
region of the Pacific Rim-China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia,
the Philippines, and Polynesia-in a performance designed to encourage
children to discover other ways of life and understand the diversity
of Asian Pacific Islander cultures.

Peter Alsop
Peter Alsop is a nationally known singer-songwriter,
educator, and humorist with a PhD in educational psychology. He has
produced 19 audio
recordings and seven videos, and consistently wins “Best Children’s” awards
from Parent’s Choice and the Association for Independent Music.
His songs are highly popular with children and used daily by thousands
of parents, educators, and human service professionals.

Carnival of the Animals
Performed by Jim Gamble Puppets
Inspired by the Camille Saint-Saens musical score, this
rod and string puppet production depicts the composer as a little boy
who creates
imaginary animals from familiar objects. His pet cat becomes a Drum
Major Lion, while his Tinkertoys transform into “Tinkertoysaurus.” This
performance emphasizes music education and uses the ‘Curtain
of Light’ technique.
